Naomi & David @ Victoria Falls, Part 1- The Boma
Ive decided to split this post into 3, why? Because it was one of the most amazing experiences we have had as photographers and because we shot for 3 days in one of the most beautifull [places in the world and want to share our amazing experience with you! Naomi and David booked us about 1 year ago and we have been looking forward to this weekend ever since!
Destination: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
The new King Shaka international airport had just opened and so we were lucky enough to be one of the first to fly from it. Landing in Livingstone, Zambia a couple of hours later and we knew we had arrived in “Africa”! Greated by our fantastic tour guide for the day we were transported across the border into Zimbabwe. The easiest border crossing i think i have ever experienced and just like that we had arrived at our home for the weekend, Lokuthula lodges (Victoria Falls Safari Lodge). Crossing over the mighty Zambezi was absolutely amazing as about 2 milion cumics of water poured over the falls. It was as if we had been caught in a freak rainstorm as above us was blue sky and yet the taxi was just beeing drenched in water! Absolutely incredible!!! I will chat about the falls a little later!
Friday night was incredible, we joined Naomi, David and all their friends and family for dinner at The Boma. A cultural experience of note with more food than ive seen in my life, drums and dancing second to none and an atmosphere you just don’t want to leave, it was incredible and an absolute must if you ever find yourself in Victoria falls. Food included Mopani worms, dried or fried, ostrich kebabs, impala and warthog steaks, and crocodile just to name a few. The dancing and druming was food for the soul with tourists from across the world joining together to create one beat!
And so to begin our photographic journey…

As we entered the Boma everyone was donned with a traditional wrap clad in colour and patterns, adding to the atmosphere which we were about to be consumed by…
